Elkhorn’s own Jay Moore makes his Omaha professional football debut with the Omaha Nighthawks.
What a game and what an experience!
Elkhorn’s Jay Moore started at defensive end last Friday night for the Omaha Nighthawks against the Hartford Colonials. Jay has over 2 years NFL experience with the San Francisco 49ers and the St. Louis Rams. Jay brings his game talent, experience and his wisdom to our local first year team.
Moore played fullback and defensive end for Coach Mark Wortman at Elkhorn High School from 1998-2001. Moore’s senior season was cut short by a knee injury, but he was still regarded as one of the top recruits in the state of Nebraska.
Jay was one of Nebraska’s impressive starting defensive ends for three seasons. Jay concluded his career ranked on the Huskers’ career top-10 list for tackles for loss.
The Nighthawks won the game on their last offensive play of the game. However, Jay and his defensive teammates put up some key defensive stops throughout the game, especially the second half, to stop the Colonial’s offense.
Jay says he loves playing in Omaha. “It’s great.” “I get to see all my family.”
Jay is the son of Jim and Marion Moore of Elkhorn. He is married to the Jamie Ramsbottom daughter of Tom and Mimi Ramsbottom, also of Elkhorn.
Congrats and Good Luck to Jay. All of Elkhorn is watching and rooting you on. Go Jay!!!
